LAURINBURG – Police are continuing to investigate two shootings that happened over the weekend.
The first shooting took place late Saturday night on Main Street at the City Express convenience store, according to Assistant Police Chief Cliff Sessoms.
Police responded to the call of shots fired at 11 p.m. and were told the victim had been taken to Scotland Memorial Hospital.
The victim, Charles Brown Jr., told officers that he was standing outside the store when an unknown man came around the side of the building and shot him in the hand and leg. Brown’s condition was not known at presstime.
“We are following up on leads and reviewing video to determine the identity of the person responsible,” Sessoms said.
The second shooting happened early Sunday morning.
Officers also responded to a residence on Glen Street at 1:30 a.m. concerning shooting in the area.
Two groups of people in the street began shooting at each other, and struck a home occupied by three people, including a juvenile, according to Sessoms. No one in the home was injured.
Those with any information about either of these shootings, are asked to call the Laurinburg Police Department at 910-276-3211.
