LAURINBURG — Tis’ the Season’s planned Kid’s Day Out will make local children merry and bright this Saturday.
Parents were able to pre-register their children for the one-day event where children will participate in fun activities and hear Christmas stories.
Co-chair Nikki Edge said the day was created to give parents a little freedom when shopping.
“The idea was made so parents could do some Christmas shopping on Main Street while we entertained their kids,” said Edge.
Entertain they will — the schedule is chock full with fun activities like outdoor movie with popcorn, storytelling, cookie decorating, canvas painting and lunch with Santa Claus.
“The children will also be transported from each location along Main Street by a children’s train,” added Edge.
She says that volunteers from the Scotland High School Anchor Club and the community will help throughout the day.
“Twenty-five children are signed up, which is really good for our first time,” said Edge. “I hope that the event will grow more each year.”
The Kid’s Day Out is Saturday and will start at the Storytelling Arts Center, where parents can drop off their children at 9:30 a.m. The fun-packed event will last from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
