ASHEVILLE — St. Andrews University senior pitcher Trevor Maly was named the Appalachian Athletic Conference (AAC) Baseball Pitcher of the Week by the league on Monday.

Maly, a native of Channahon, Ill., helped the Knights to a 6-0 win in their series against Truett-McConnell last week throwing a four hit shutout over seven innings of work. It was the senior’s first shutout of the season and fourth complete game of the year.

In seven innings, Maly struck out five batters and walked two.

The Knights seniors finishes the year 6-4 with a 3.97t ERA, a team best, and 69 strikeouts. This is the second time this season Maly has been named AAC Pitcher of the Week. He also won at the end of March when he shut down Union College, 11-1.

When he won his first award, Maly had 13 strikeouts, a career high and school record for a Knights pitcher.

St. Andrews finished the year 21-29 overall and 7-19 in the conference.

The AAC all-conference awards will be announced later this week.
