LAURINBURG — The search is on for talented gospel solo singers, choirs and quartets from Scotland and surrounding counties.

A contest for the best singer is set for 6 p.m. Saturday at the St. John Association Building.

The winner of the “North and South Gospel Singing Talent Search” will earn a spot in radio station WIDU’s “Carolina’s Best” at the Crown Coliseum in Fayetteville on Oct. 6.

Contestants will be judged on originality, stage presence, professionalism and vocal styling with the final selection to be determined by the audience.

The grand prize winner will receive a full ticket package to WIDU’s anniversary events, dinner, and a limousine ride to the finale.

CotLu Films, co-founded by Laurinburg native Rick Cotton, will feature a song by the winner in an upcoming documentary.
