RCC hosts rural business series

HAMLET— Richmond Community College’s Small Business Center is presenting the N.C. Rural Spring Entrepreneurship Action Learning (REAL) series beginning Tuesday, April 25.

The NC REAL series includes five business seminars with topics ranging from self-assessments, business ideas, steps to writing a business plan, site feasibility, legal structure, marketing and business financials.

The seminars will teach participants decision-making and problem-solving skills under real-world business pressure and what it takes to create a successful business. Other topics include getting financing and pricing your product or service.

“It is the goal of the Small Business Center to provide all of the tools needed to assist you in starting or growing your small business,” Small Business Center Director Deborah Hardison said. “NC REAL is an essential item to have in your toolbox.”

The seminar series will be facilitated by professional business coach Debra Morman, who has 11 years of experience. She is a graduate of DeVry University, where she received a bachelor’s degree in business and technical management with a concentrate in entrepreneurship. Morman is also a graduate of E-Source Academy, an intense and rigorous training on coaching, franchising, and self-employment. She is a certified franchise consultant with International Franchise Professional Group and a graduate of the REAL Institute and a licensed facilitator of the course.

Guest presenters such as JaLisha Richmond, program associate for Entrepreneurship & Microenterprise, will provide information as it relates to financing, taxes and more.

Seminar dates are April 25 and 27 and May 2, 4 and 9. All seminars will be held from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Honeycutt Center, 600 McLean St. in Laurinburg.

Attend four unduplicated sessions in a calendar year and receive a REAL Business Planning Certificate of completion.
