On Monday evening, dozens of people gathered in the entrance of South Johnson Elementary School to watch the unveiling of the portraits of I. Ellis Johnson and Walter Thomas Gilmore. The two portraits had formally been hung at their own schools — I. Ellis Johnson Elementary and South Scotland Elementary — before the two schools merged to form South Scotland. Now to remember where the school, students and staff originally came from the portriats of both educators hang in the entry way to the school so that all who enter the school will be able to look back at two of the educators who helped the school get where it is today.
