LAURINBURG — Those in the community looking for safe ways to dispose of unused or unwanted prescriptions will have the option to do so Wednesday.

The public can bring medications for disposal to the corner of Main and Roper Streets at WLNC from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. as part of the Safe Kids Operation Medicine Drop with the help of the Laurinburg Police Department and Scotland County Sheriff’s Office.

Safe Kids is an injury prevention initiative with multiple counties working together to promote injury prevention messages to parents, caregivers, and the general community. Operation Medicine Drop is part of poison prevention to focuses on how families can prevent household poisonings from medication.

There are permanent boxes in the Scotland County Courthouse and the Laurinburg City Hall for people to safely discard their expired medication without having to wait for another drive-up medicine drop.
