LAURINBURG — A possible attempted robbery gone wrong Sunday ended with one man dead and three others injured.
The Scotland County Sheriff’s Office reported via Facebook that 31-year-old Brandon Brooks of Lees Mill Road was pronounced deceased at his residence after sustaining multiple gunshot wounds.
Three other people, who remain unnamed at this time, were identified in the incident and taken for care at nearby hospitals after also reporting multiple gunshot wounds. The three are expected to survive.
The Criminal Investigative Division believe that Brooks was killed after an attempted robbery went awry at the residence. There was also a minor infant child less than 6 months old at the residence who was uninjured in the incident.
