LAURINBURG —A Laurinburg woman has been charged in a fatal hit-and-run accident that killed a Scotland County man in McColl, South Carolina on Saturday, a broadcast news station is reporting.

Brandy Chavis Rodgers was charged with leaving the scene of a collision involving death during the hit-and-run accident, according to ABC-affliate WPDE.

Stephen Locklear, 27, of Laurinburg, was killed in the accident. Authorities said Locklear was walking north on U.S. 15 in the McColl when he was struck by a car that fled the scene. A passerby found Locklear on the side of the road and called 911.

The television station reported that Rodgers is currently being held in the Marlboro County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.

A jailer at the center confirmed on Thursday that Rodger is confined there, but officials with the South Carolina Highway Patrol could not be reached for comment at presstime.
