ROCKINGHAM — Richmond Senior got out of the gate quickly Friday and never looked back en route to a 73-43 win over visiting Scotland High in the regular-season finale.

The Lady Raiders opened a 26-10 advantage after the first quarter of play, the used a 21-15 verdict in the second stanza to open a 47-25 lead by halftime.

The Lady Scots won the third quarter, but only by an 8-7 margin, and trailed 54-33 going into the fourth frame.

Richmond sealed the win with a 19-10 run through the final 8 minutes.

Freshman Jamiya Lindsey led the Lady Raiders with 28 points, while Jamiya Ratliff added 23 points. Sophomore Ryelan Lyerly was also in double figures for Richmond with 12 points.

Richmond finished the regular season 18-4 overall and 12-0 in the conference, while Scotland finished at 13-7 and 7-5.

The Lady Scots were scheduled to host 3-15 Southern Lee on Monday in the opening round of the SAC Tournament.

Raiders thump Scots

Richmond Senior High sealed up the Sandhills Athletic Conference title on Friday with an 84-60 win over visiting Scotland High.

The Scots gave Richmond all it could hand through the first half, going into intermission trailing by just 42-38. But the Raiders outscored the Fighting Scots by a 38-22 margin through the second half tom earn the victory.

For Scotland, junior Lamonte Cousar poured in 33 points and pulled down 11 rebounds for a double-double, while junior Isaac Ferguson added 12 points with four assists and senior Chris Quick had eight points along with 10 rebounds.

With the win, Richmond finished the regular season at 21-1 overall and 11-1 in the conference; Scotland finished at 5-15 and 3-9.

On Tuesday, the Scots will travel to face 17-6 Union Pines in the first round of the SAC Tournament. Tip-off is 6 p.m.
