An ex-Communist Romania-born academic recently left his tenured position at Columbia University because the Ivy League school is “on its way toward full blown communism.”
The latest study of American campuses shows that nearly 40% of the colleges surveyed did not have one professor on their faculty who identified as a Conservative. Yet, some still say Socialist indoctrination of classroom politics is a right-wing fabrication?
To add to that, recent research conducted by National Association of Scholars, found of 8,688 full-time professors with a Ph.D revealed that for every 10 professors who are registered Democrats, there is only one registered Republican professor, ineptitude or attitude?
The political registration of full-time, PhD professors in top-tier liberal arts colleges is overwhelmingly Democratic. In fact, 39% of the colleges sampled had zero Republicans in their faculty. The political registration of the remaining 61% is slightly more than 0% Republican. Thus, 78.2% of the academic departments in the sample have either zero Republicans – or so few as to make no difference. However, the ratio of Democrat to Republicans professors at West Point and Annapolis is even more daunting — at nearly West Point, 13 Democrats to one Republican; at Annapolis, 12.7 Democrats to one Republican.
The rest of the schools, have a even bigger gap between Democrats and Republicans. Nearly 10 of these colleges either have no Republicans in their faculty or a number so small as to be statistically insignificant.
Some say foreign students with unlimited wealth demand their professors lean towards Socialism or Liberalism and, after all, colleges are in the business of selling education.
According to the NSA, the communication curriculum, (Newspaper, radio, Hollywood and television ), has the capabilities of doing the most damage to our country by spouting its Liberal/Socialist rhetoric to the uninformed. Out of nearly 9,000 professors from 51 of the top-rated schools, the number of Liberal/Socialist to Conservative communications faculty members … is 108 to zero.
After analyzing these NSA numbers, it was concluded by George Mason University economics professor Walter E. Williams, Ph.D., that there is a major problem going on behind closed doors in American college classrooms.
“Many professors spend class time indoctrinating students with their personal political views,” he said. “Telling students what to think … instead of how to think.”
He lamented over the Liberal bullying going on in classrooms while gullible and impressionable students listen to the leftist worldviews. Any conservative influence left by their parents at home is no longer an obstacle for these masters of indoctrination.
“It is a cowardly act for a professor to take advantage of student immaturity by indoctrinating pupils with their personal opinions before the students have developed the maturity and skill to examine other opinions,” Williams stated. “It is also a dereliction of duty by college administrators and boards of trustees to permit the continuance of what some professors and students are doing in the name of higher education.”
Reflecting further on the research, it was pointed out that political extremism in U.S. universities is not representative of America beyond the campus gates.
“According to a number of Pew Research Center surveys, most Americans identify as Conservative,” Williams stressed. “These Americans are seeing their tax dollars and tuition dollars going to people who have contempt for their values and seek to indoctrinate their children with leftist ideas.”
The conversion of America’s youth to Socialist views should come as no mystery to conservatives, however it is a recognized fact that most Liberal/Socialist influences eventually wears off with maturity.
Sadly, many students emerge from four years of college after being immersed in a Liberal and or Socialist doctrine, with a decidedly leftist worldview. Yet life experiences slowly change that view to a much more conservative one. This usually happens when they begin paying taxes and their own bills, are faced with raising children or purchasing a home. Needless to say, that process of change may take decades, and obviously, not all will complete that journey.
Allowing schools to tell students what to think rather than how to think can be construed as brainwashing, not teaching. And by permitting an agenda where opposing views are shouted down leaves us with one generation after another of young workers and voters who are tilted in the direction of socialism. We must insists on neutral teaching that, given the facts, allows students to make their own conclusions. This is the true essence education – not force-feeding them heated liberal rants or attacking one’s political party with personal opinions rather than facts.
Life is the greatest classroom. However, it’s obvious that we all cannot experience the major events of our history, yet we are able to read and study about its major events. We all have the opportunity to learn what worked and what failed, without suffering the physical consequences of the failure.
When we study about those that tried Socialism we discover that no one has ever made Socialism work successfully for an extended period of time. Noting this fact we should determine that Socialism is not compatible with a civilized culture, no matter how fantastic your professor makes it sound.
