LAURINBURG – A Laurinburg man has been arrested for stealing a John Deer tractor, according to the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office.
Brandon Keith Grooms, 31, of Lees Mill Road, was arrested for larceny and conspiracy to commit felony larceny, according to the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office.
On July 16, the sheriff’s office received a report of a stolen John Deer tractor valued at $20,000 belonging to Micheal Wilson of Wagram.
“The tractor was parked in an open field on McGirt’s Bridge Road. It was a large farm tractor, not a riding mower,” said Capt. Ruben Castellon, chief detective of the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office. “After further investigation by the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division, on July 17, Brandon Grooms was arrested.”
Grooms is being held at Scotland County Detention Center under a $5,000 secured bond.
The sheriff’s office is looking for a second person in connection with the theft, according to Castellon.
The tractor was recovered and returned to the owner.
