LAURINBURG – A Laurinburg man is in custody on first-degree murder charges following a shooting death at Scotland Manor Apartments late Sunday night.
Brandon Levon McNeill, 21, of Stubbs Road, was taken into custody at the scene and charged in the death of Latrell Allen, 25, of Charlotte Street, according to Police Chief Darwin Williams.
City police answered a call for a shooting at the 1900 block of Charlotte Street at Scotland Manor Apartments and found Allen unresponsive from a gunshot wound, police said. Officers attempted to perform CPR.
EMS was called in, and Allen was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Williams.
Williams are not certain as to what led up to the shooting.
“We are still investigating in reference to a motive. We think it was domestic in nature,” Williams said.
McNeil is being held in the Scotland County Detention Center without bond.
Williams asked that anyone with information to call the Laurinburg Police Department at 910-276-3211.
In a separate incident early Monday morning, authorities were called to a residence on Hill Creek Road in reference to a shooting.
Officials with the Scotland County Sheriff’s Office have not ruled the death a homicide and have released few details in the case.
Deputies were called to the home at around 4:57 a.m. Monday morning.
