LAURINBURG — A new Edwards Jones Investments officially opened its doors on Thursday with a ribbon cutting and open house.
The Laurinburg/Scotland County Chamber of Commerce helped welcome Edward Jones financial advisor Kyle Jordan into her new business at Suite E of the Oaks Building.
City Councilman Drew Williamson, Scotland County Commissioner Carol McCall and chamber Chairman Matt Pracht all joined about 20 people at the ribbon cutting.
“I’m always so impressed with those people who step out and go into business, an entrepreneur that takes a lot of courage,” McCall said. “On behalf of the board of commissioners, whatever we can do to make you more successful and to keep you planted right here in Scotland County we will do that.”
Pracht talked about the importance of new business in Scotland County.
“Anyone that makes an investment, it’s such a significant thing for our community,” Pracht said. “It brings jobs, it brings vitality to our community, and the business that you do offers a good service to the citizens of Scotland County.”
Jordan has worked for Edward Jones since August 2016. As a financial advisor, Jordan hopes to help people in the community invest their money.
“A lot of people don’t understand the investments they’re in, they don’t understand investing, and I make it relatively easy to understand,” Jordan said.
Edward Jones Investments was started in 1922 and is a financial service that focuses solely on individual investors and small-business owners. There are more than 13,000 offices in the United States.
The firm’s investment philosophy is “investing for the long-term in quality investments aligned with goals and risk tolerance.”
“When I moved to Laurinburg I wanted a job that would get me involved in the community and help people because they don’t teach this thing to people in school,” Jordan said.
Jordan grew up learning about investing from her father who was a licensed broker in her home state of Texas. She graduated from Baylor University and moved to Laurinburg four years ago with her husband and children.
