Break-in

LAURINBURG — A resident of Wagram Street reported to the police department on Dec. 21 that someone had broken into his storage unit and stole two four-wheelers valued at $3,000.

LAURINBURG — A resident of Omega Street reported to the police department on Dec. 22 that when she came home her side door was open. The suspect had taken a 32-inch TV, a tie set, a bow tie set, a tablet and assorted jewelry totaling $526.

LAURINBURG — A owner of a property of South Caledonia Road reported to the police department on Sunday that someone had kicked in the door to the residence causing $100 to the door frame. Nothing was removed. While at the scene the tenant of the property informed police he had been robbed the night before on East Vance Street with several men taking $200 cash and a Verizon phone card from him.

LAURINBURG — A resident of Fairly Road, Maxton, reported to the police department on Sunday that while in Food Lion at Scotland Crossing she left her wallet in her vehicle and, when she came out again, the wallet was missing. The wallet contained $21 cash and a car key. There was no damage to the vehicle.

LAURINBURG — A resident of West Boulevard reported to the police department on Sunday that someone had broken into his vehicle and stole an $80 car radio, a $50 amp and a $65 LG cellphone.

LAURINBURG — A resident of Stratford Drive reported that someone had broken into his vehicle and stole $4 in change. There was no damage to the vehicle.

Larceny

LAURINBURG — A resident of Plaza Road reported to the police department on Wednesday that unknown persons had stolen her 2008 Jeep Compass.

Assault

LAURINBURG — A resident of Fairmont Street reported to the police department on Monday that her boyfriend and father of her two children kicked in the door to her residence, choked her, pushed her against the wall, and hit her. She refused medical treatment and warrants were obtained for 24-year-old Michael Goodwin of Gibson Road, Gibson. He has not been located.

LAURINBURG — A resident of Charlotte Street called the police department on Tuesday about a domestic assault. When officers arrived they could hear crying and shouting. Victim had obvious bruising to her. Tony Brooks, 30, of Bobbys Circle, Lumberton, was arrested for assault on a female. He wasn’t given a bond.

LAURINBURG — The police department responded to Harrison Street on Tuesday about a male laying in the roadway. When officers located him he was conscious but was not responding. He was taken to Scotland Memorial Hospital for treatment and when he was able to speak to police he told them that a black vehicle had struck him. He suffered from a broken jaw and the incident is under investigation.

Robbery

LAURINBURG — A resident of Old Charleston Circle reported to the police department on Monday that a male had come to his door asking if he had a tire pump. The victim took the male into the garage to locate one and offered him some money to travel to the tire shop. Another male exited from a vehicle and pulled a silver handgun and took $300 from him as well as a Samsung phone. The two left in a silver passenger vehicle.

DWI

LAURINBURG — Police officers attempted to make a traffic stop on Mill Street Sunday when they noticed a vehicle going the wrong way on a one-way street. The driver threw an open can of beer out the window before pulling over. Arthur McNeill, 52, of Romans Drive, Hamlet, was arrested and charged with driving while impaired, littering, and open container. His bond was set at $2,500.

Arrests

LAURINBURG — Keith Hammonds, 30, of Velcord Road, Lumberton, was arrested Dec. 21 after being caught shoplifting $750 worth of merchandise from Walmart. He was charged with shoplifting and served with warrants from Cumberland County for larceny charges. He was given a $35,000 bond.

LAURINBURG — Christopher Lee Fields, 33, who resides at the Scotland Inn was arrested Dec. 22 after a traffic stop. Fields was found to be in possession of pills and was charged with simple possession of a schedule IV substance. He was given a $2,500 bond.

LAURINBURG — Tarus Flowers, 41, of Roosevelt Street was arrested Sunday for multiple failure to appear warrants. His bond was $75,000.

LAURINBURG — Walter Powell, 44, of East Covington Street was arrested Monday for failure to appear warrants. He was given a $1,000 bond.

LAURINBURG — Austin Sanderson, 22, of Robinwood Lane, Red Springs, was arrested after a traffic stop for fictitious tags. It was revealed he had warrants out of Robeson County and was jailed until a $5,000 bond and given citations for the traffic violations.

LAURINBURG — Shanequa Love, 24, of Johns Road was arrested Tuesday for two assault warrants. She wasn’t given a bond.

LAURINBURG — Joan Wright, 59, of Washington Street was arrested Tuesday for outstanding warrants. When police tried to arrest her she became irate and began hitting the officer. She was brought to the magistrates office where she also became disruptive towards the magistrate. She was charged with the warrants as well as injury to personal property, communicating threats, assault on a government official and contempt of court. She wasn’t given a bond.

LAURINBURG — Dimitri Devaughn, 42, of Walters Road, Laurel Hill, was arrested Wednesday for domestic violence protective order violation. He wasn’t given a bond.

LAURINBURG — Pamela Brown, 52, of Marcella Drive was arrested Wednesday for 13 counts of failure to appear. She was given a $1,100 bond.
