LAURINBURG — Police are seeking a 20-year-old Laurinburg man believed to be one of two who fired shots at a car on Tuesday which also struck a nearby home.

Authorities are seeking Devonta Jameel Monroe, of Glenn Street. He is described as being 5 feet, 8 inches tall and 232 pounds and is believed to be armed and dangerous.

According to Laurinburg Assistant Police Chief Cliff Sessoms, Monroe and Jalen Rashad Everett, 20, of Hillcrest Avenue, fired “several” shots at a 2000 Dodge Charger at the corner of Spruce and Vance streets. Some bullets hit the car, and others hit a nearby Vance Street home, he said.

No one was injured.

Everett was arrested that night and faces charges with two counts of discharging a firearm into an occupied property and one count each of felonious conspiracy and discharging a firearm in the city limits. He was placed in the Scotland County jail under a $100,000 bond.
