LAURINBURG — Scotland High linebacker coach Maurice Huey has accepted the defensive coordinator position at Red Springs High School.

Huey played a vital role in bringing linebacker Kymani Atiles to Scotland. Atiles was named the Conference Defensive Player of the Year, leading the team in 175 total tackles, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.

Huey took to social media to express his gratitude for Scotland County and the coaching staff.

“I want to thank Coach Richard Bailey and Principal Laura Bailey for allowing me to be a part of the Scotland County family. I definitely enjoyed my time there, but sometimes it isn’t how long you stay but the impact that you make while you are there.”
