LAURINBURG — With the Thanksgiving all but upon us, Black Friday looms right behind it.

This year, according to High Point University, 31 percent of North Carolinians will be shopping on Black Friday — up 9 percent from last year.

While many stores are offering plenty of deals, according to WalletHub, Belk, JCPenney and Stage are the top three stores for deals on Black Friday, while Disney, iTunes and Visa are the top three gift cards.

The big retail stores like Walmart, Belk and Target have been advertising their deals for what feels like months, and many people forget about the more local businesses that will also be offering deals and the opportunity to shop local.

Following Black Friday is Small Business Saturday, where many local stores are having the deals roll over between the two days.

In downtown Laurinburg, several stores are partaking in the weekend of sales but many will keep their normal hours. Scotland Bling will be having $12 short-sleeve Simply Southern and other brands, as well as $39.99 sherpas and a few more deals for those who come in Friday.

Hi-Lites will be offering some brand new items for $10 or less ranging from PJs to shirts with everything in between on top of the already great deals the store offers that will carry over into Saturday. Living Water Christian Resources LLC will also be joining in over the weekend with a deal of if the customer spends $25 they will get 50-percent off a single item.

New York Hi Fashion has already begun the holiday sale season with various deals throughout the store. Despite not being a traditional retailers, Shirt Tales is also joining in offering up to 50 percent off on some items in the store Friday.

The Weknd Warrior Trade Co. will be opening its doors an hour earlier than normal on Friday, opening at 9 a.m. as opposed to 10 a.m., and the first five customers will get a $25 giftcard. There are also plenty of other deals such as 30 percent off hats for the first hour the store is open and 20 percent off outerwear. Some of the deals will slide over into Saturday, like a 20-percent off the Wekend short-sleeve shirts.

Venturing from downtown Fan-Tab Creations and Vinyl Supply will be offering 40-percent off printed vinyl and 10-percent off all other vinyl along with $10 monogrammed hats Friday. The store will also be having some sales on Saturday but customers will have to stop by to see exactly what sales are going on.

The Habitat for Humanity ReStore will also be opening its doors on Black Friday offering 40-percent off the entire store and the opening of a Christmas Shop inside the ReStore.

And for those looking for more bargain shopping, Cyber Monday will follow the weekend sales, where folks can find all kinds of bargains online.
