LAURINBURG — The Scots basketball teams traveled to Marlboro County on Wednesday as the boys came away with a victory, but the girls suffered a close loss.
The Fighting Scots topped the Bulldogs 62-58 to pick up their fourth win of the season and improve to 4-2 overall. The Lady Scots lost by just four points to the Lady Bulldogs, 44-48, for their third loss in a row. The loss moves the Lady Scots to 3-3 overall.
Both teams were scheduled to travel to Union Pines on Monday, Dec. 12 but that game has been cancelled and will not be made up.
The teams will host Marlboro County on Dec. 16 for their first Friday night game of the season. The Lady Scots will tip off at 6 p.m., followed by the Fighting Scots at approximately 7:30 p.m. Next Friday’s game will wrap up the 2016 portion of the Lady Scots season as they won’t be in action again until the new year.
After the holidays, the Scots will participate in the annual West Bladen Holiday Tournament that will begin on Dec. 28 and run through Dec. 30.
The Scots wrestling team will travel to Cumberland County to participate in a tournament at South View today. After that, the wrestlers have one more match before everyone rings in 2017. Wrestling will travel to Southern Pines on Wednesday, Dec. 14 to compete in a dual match with Pinecrest. Matches are set to begin at 6 p.m.
