LAURINBURG — Scotland County Parks and Recreation fall sports registration is right around the corner.
Parks and Rec will be offering soccer, volleyball, football and cheerleading along with a unified sports league for children with special needs.
Registration for soccer, football, volleyball and cheerleading begins July 9 at Scotland Place and Wagram Recreation Center and runs through Aug. 10.
The soccer program is available for boys and girls ages three to 14. New players must bring a birth certificate or shot record for proof of age. The documents will not be kept, just reviewed to confirm a player’s age.
Parks and Rec will again be offering flag football and a cheerleading league for five and six-year-old boys and girls. Cheerleading will be offered to children up to age 12.
Flag football will have 5u and 6u teams along with an 8u team. Tackle football will have two leagues this year, a 10u and 12u team. Football games and practices will be held at Legion Park.
Parks and Rec will also have the Scotland County (NFL) Combine, an aspect of the football program that was started last year. Members of the Scotland High School football team will come out and assist players as coaches assess talent for their teams.
The volleyball program has expanded this season and will be for girls in fourth, fifth and sixth grade.
