LAURINBURG — Davon Ratliffe is a 5-foot 9-inch senior at Scotland High School. He is also one of the starting corners, wearing No. 20, for the Fighting Scots this season and has been named this week’s Defensive Player of the Week.
Each Friday, the Exchange will feature one offensive, one defensive and one special teams player from the Fighting Scots, chosen by the coaches, to be the Players of the Week.
Davon had an outstanding game on Friday against West Mecklenburg, recording his first quarterback sack of the season and holding University of North Carolina commit Dymani Brown to four catches for 35 yards and one touchdown.
“Davon really rose to the occasion last week,” said head coach Richard Bailey. “It was definitely his best game as a Fighting Scot.”
The 160-pound senior is undecided on where he wants to attend college, but plans to major in criminal justice. Davon is unsure if he will play sports in college while he pursues a career as a highway patrolman.
When asked what is favorite memory of playing sports was Davon said getting play along side his twin brother Javon and having a great game against West Mecklenburg.
He is most looking forward to making a run at a 4A State Championship this season.
