I am writing this letter to give the city of Laurinburg a big round of applause for its “Christmas on Main” program on Sunday.
My family and I spent the weekend in Lumberton and Laurinburg to kick off our yearly Christmas celebration.
Lumberton had its usual early Christmas parade on Saturday, which was the better part of two hours long and was only a little messy near the end when it began to drizzle a bit. Still, it was well attended and provided its usual amount of holiday7 spirit.
Sunday in Laurinburg, we enjoyed a couple hours of fun and festivities in the downtown. Since this was our very first trip to Laurinburg, we were impressed with the downtown area and just how much community spirit there was. And the day couldn’t have been better after watching the tree lighting and, of course, the mass of Santas who entertained the crowd.
I applaud the city of Laurinburg and those who put together such a wonderful day for its residents and visitors on Sunday. We’ll be back for the Christmas parade.
