LAURINBURG – A Laurinburg woman with a revoked license for DWI was arrested for driving while impaired on Monday.

Terrell Williams, 33, of Madera Avenue was arrested for DWI and seven traffic offenses, after turning into oncoming traffic on Turnpike Road near the James L. Morgan Complex.

“Williams was traveling south in a white Ford Explorer and made a left turn in the path of another vehicle, a Honda Odyssey being driven by Roger Ladd of Stradford Drive,” said Patrol Capt. Terry Chavis.

Witnesses said they saw Williams throw a container of alcohol out of her vehicle shortly before the accident.

Responding officers conducted a field sobriety test, and Williams admitted that she had been drinking before the wreck, Chavis said.

After running license check, officers determined that Williams’ license had been revoked for other DWI offenses.

Williams was charged with DWI, driving while license revoked, a child restraint violation, and four counts of misdemeanor child abuse and given a written promise to appear.

In North Carolina, a driver’s license is suspended on a first offense for DWI.
