LAURINBURG — Hibbett Sports in Scotland Crossing reported to the police department on Monday that a black male entered the store and grabbed an assortment of Champion clothing and ran out. The items were valued at around $450.

LAURINBURG — An Ohio man reported to the police department Monday that, while staying at the Comfort Inn, someone had entered his room and took his wallet. The wallet contained $60 and a Capital One credit card. The victim said the card had been used at a gas station but he had gotten an email from the company informing him of two blocked purchase attempts, including trying to get money out at a nearby ATM. The card was canceled and police are investigating.

Vandalism

LAURINBURG — A resident of Appaloosa Court reported to the sheriff’s office on Monday that there was damage to her Chevrolet Impala valued at $200.

LAURINBURG — A resident of Gulf Street reported to the police department on Monday that someone had broken the side window in her living room. On Sunday while out of the residence she had received a house alert but when she arrived with police they were unable to find anything missing or damaged so she believes the window might have been what set off the alarm.

Identity Theft

LAURINBURG — A resident of Knapp Street reported to the sheriff’s office on Monday that unknown persons had used her identity to cancel her disability claim.

Traffic stop

LAURINBURG — Police officers conducted a traffic stop Tuesday morning on U.S. 401 near West Boulevard. Upon investigation it was revealed that the driver had an open container of alcohol and the passenger was concealing a handgun. David Fields, 26, of Tuscarora Road, Maxton was given a citation for open container of alcohol while Christopher Blue, 27, of West Rockingham Road, Maxton, was cited for carrying a concealed weapon.

Arrests

LAURINBURG — Gale Johnson, 37, of Glenn Street was arrested Monday for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. He was given a $1,000 bond.

LAURINBURG — Jeremy Locklear, 24, of Oakwood Drive was arrested Monday for outstanding warrants for assault on a female, communicating threats, and harassing phone calls. He wasn’t given a bond.
