Fraud

LAURINBURG — A resident of the Scotland Inn reported to the police department on Wednesday that she had attempted to rent a mobile home. She told officers a woman claiming to be the owner met her at the Scotland Inn and collected the $550 deposit for the mobile home on March 1. The owner told her she would be able to move in on the 11th but the victim was unable to contact her or get the money back. Upon looking up the home it was revealed that there wasn’t a home on the property.

Counterfeit

LAURINBURG — A resident of South Turnpike Road reported to the police department on Wednesday that he had gotten money from the Woodforest Bank in Walmart but realized the $100 bill was counterfeit. The victim took the bill back to the bank but they were unable to accept it due to the fact he had made the withdrawal in February.

Shots fired

LAURINBURG — A resident of Produce Market Road reported to the police department Thursday that an unknown person had shot at the residence. The victim found a bullet in the bedroom floor and located the bullet hole in the wall, which caused $200 damage.

Arrest

LAURINBURG — Cameron Britt, 28, of Oxendine School Road in Maxton was arrested Wednesday for a failure to appear out of Robeson County. She was given a $1,000 bond.

LAURINBURG — John McCoy, 46, of Cooper Street was arrested Wednesday for possession of drug paraphernalia along with warrants for communicating threats and domestic trespassing. He wasn’t given a bond.
