LAURINBURG — Since Dec. 15, 2020, the Scotland Health team has successfully administered Moderna, Pfizer and Johnson & Johnson vaccinations to its staff and throughout the local communities. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the CDC’s Advisory Committee announced Tuesday that the Pfizer vaccine is now authorized for children 5 to 11 years of age.

“Although we have been administering the covid vaccination to pediatric patients aged 12 and up, we are pleased to be able to administer to a lower age group,” said Shelly Lowery, MD, CMO of Scotland Physicians Network. “We want to vaccinate as many children and adults who want the Covid vaccine as conveniently and efficiently as possible.
“Data proves the covid vaccination is effective by lowering the chances of being hospitalized or having major symptoms and complications,” she added. “We continue to encourage community members to get vaccinated so we can continue to return to normal activities.”
