LAURINBURG – Scotland Health announced this week that its environmental services team was the recent recipient of the Platinum-Plus Award from Crothall Healthcare, the premier healthcare support services provider nationwide.

The criteria to earn this honor includes outstanding audit scores, company achievements, financial results and outstanding HCAHPS survey scores which measures quality of care based on the patient’s point-of-view.

“I am excited to share that your team has been chosen by (Crothall) senior leadership as a Platinum-Plus Award recipient,” lauded Warren Ponce, regional director of operations with Crothall Healthcare. “Your program at Scotland Health Care System was the only program in the region and one of 72 accounts out of 600 plus in the Company (to receive the award). Thank you for all you do at SHCS and for Crothall Healthcare.”

The award announcement comes just one month after Healthcare Environmental Services Week when the team was celebrated for its commitment to keeping Scotland Health facilities safe from COVID-19 and other infectious diseases. The EVS staff used the national observance as an opportunity to introduce two new state-of-the-art tools that are being used to fight COVID-19: “Surfacide”, a UV-C decontamination technology and the Clorox “Total 360 System” which is an electrostatic sprayer. Both pieces of equipment can quickly clean a room and completely kill any traces of COVID-19.

“We have a great team,” said EVS Director Dwane Fizer. “Our team is willing to do whatever it takes to keep everyone safe. With the support of our leaders at Scotland Health Care System, our EVS team now has the tools to provide the quality service seen at many large hospitals. I’m really proud of our team.”

Fizer and the EVS team have been working diligently over the past few weeks to incorporate the use of their new equipment into their standard work.

“Clearly, in this COVID environment, one of the most important things that we have to do is keep Scotland Memorial Hospital safe for anyone who is coming in,” said Greg Wood, Scotland Health Care System president and CEO. “Our environmental services staff is making sure that everything is as non-infectious as possible. Congratulations to Dwane Fizer and our EVS team for being recognized for their exemplary work.”
