LAURINBURG — The Scotland Fighting Scots softball team cruised to a 9-0 victory over the Southern Lee Cavaliers at home Tuesday night.

Scotland (11-0, 7-0 Sandhills Athletic Conference) scored all of its runs in the first two innings, including an eight-run second.

Dawson Blue finished with two runs, a single, a triple and two RBIs for Scotland; Addison Lewis and Nateya Scott had one run and two hits each, with Lewis getting two RBIs and Scott getting one; Madison Dixon had one run, a double and three RBIs; Marissa Smith scored one run on one hit; Avery Stutts had one hit with one RBI and Lindsay Locklear, Ramsey Hale and Emily Sampson had a run each.

Stutts pitched all seven frames, allowing five hits with seven strikeouts.

Albani Hooker threw a complete game for Southern Lee (5-7, 2-5 SAC), taking the loss.

Scotland visits Union Pines in Cameron on Friday.

Lady Scots soccer falls at Richmond

The Scotland Fighting Scots women’s soccer team lost 10-1 against the Richmond Raiders in a mercy-rule decision Tuesday night in Rockingham.

The win was the 19th consecutive for Richmond (6-3-2, 2-2 Sandhills Athletic Conference) in its series against Scotland (2-6-1, 0-5 Sandhills Athletic Conference); Richmond led 3-1 at halftime before the match was called with 14:39 remaining in the second half.

Emma Clark scored Scotland’s only goal and Caydence Deese had 16 saves as a substitute goalkeeper.

Scotland plays Lumberton in nonconference action on Thursday in Laurinburg.
