LAURINBURG — The St. Andrews University women’s volleyball staff will be hosting a free clinic on Saturday, Aug. 12 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

“The camp is open to anyone that is interested, there is no age restrictions,” said Mandeville. “We haven’t held a free clinic like this before, usually we have a camp at the beginning of Aug. to help players with their mechanics before they try out for their middle or high school team.”

Mandeville said she and her staff wanted to put on the free clinic to make sure they could help as many players they could. The entire St. Andrews women’s volleyball team will be on hand to provided guidance at the clinic because the camp falls in line with the team’s first day of pre-season.

“All of my girls will be there,” said Mandeville. “We wanted to try and help more kids this years, so we are offering the free clinic because many times they can’t come to an actual camp because of the price.”

Players of all ages and skill levels are encouraged to attend the clinic which will be held in the Harris Courts inside the P.E. Center. Mandeville said players should wear shirts and shorts along with tennis shoes and bottled water.

The clinic will focus on volleyball fundamentals in addition to strategies that will improve players overall game.

The Lady Knights volleyball team will travel to Cape Fear Community College on Aug. 16 at 3 p.m. for their first match of the season. The team will travel to UNCP on July 26 for an exhibition match against the Braves.
