LAURINBURG — It is almost time for curtain call at the ENCORE! Theatre, Inc. and the performance the crew has selected is “The Odd Couple,” which has been on hold since March 2020.
“We have already been rehearsing for our performance,” said Gary Gallman, who will be directing alongside Bod Dyer. “We chose this play almost two years ago and were ready to perform it when the pandemic hit.
“We had performed it about 13 years ago and knew it to be an audience-pleasing play,” Gallman added.
The ENCORE cast, according to Gallman is made up of a 10-member crew.
“There is not an official membership, but local people have been involved in the plays through the years,” said Gallman. “This has been the community theater for Laurinburg for over 25 years.”
The premiere of the show will be held on Oct. 7 at 7:30 p.m. and will be an in-person performance.
“Those who cannot make that show will have multiple opportunities following the opening night,” said Gallman. “We will also have performances on Oct. 8, 9 and 14, all of which will also be held at 7:30 p.m.”
According to Gallman, the group is not licensed by the publisher for live-feed performances, therefore they will not be streamed on Facebook or any other facet.
“All of the performances will be held at the Storytelling and Arts Center on Main Street,” said Gallman. “Every time we do a play we give the audience members information on how to be a part of ENCORE! Anyone interested may also contact me at WLNC Radio.”
Gallman also said the only requirement to join the crew is to simply have a desire to be involved in community theater.
“ENCORE! is a partner of the Arts Council of Scotland County in producing plays,” said Gallman.
Tickets can be purchased at storytellingartscenter.org as well as Terry’s Boutique. Tickets for adults are $10, $8 for seniors and $5 for students.
“Seating is limited,” said Gallman. “So get those tickets while you can. Face masks will also be required.”
