LAURINBURG – Police have arrested a Laurinburg man after he set fire to his girlfriend’s car following an argument.

Maurice Wall, 31, of Wilmington Street, was arrested for arson Saturday, according to Capt. Chris Young.

Wall and the woman were involved in an argument at Wall’s home and at some point during the argument police say that Wall went outside and set the victim’s 2004 Buick Rendezvous on fire. The blaze left $500 in damages to the car and burned $40 in clothing.

Police arrived and apprehended Wall a short distance from the home, Young said.

Wall was charged with felony burning of personal property, communicating threats and open burning where prohibited and given a $1,600 secured bond.
