LAURINBURG — The annual Legislative Update hosted by the Laurinburg/Scotland County Area Chamber of Commerce will be held on Friday, Aug. 17, at 8 a.m. at the Emergency Operations Center. A breakfast will be provided at 7:30 a.m. and the cost to attend is $6.

The meeting allows businesses owners and residents the opportunity to hear from the local delegation in Raleigh — including Sen. Tom McInnis and State Rep. Garland Pierce.

The legislators are expected to provide attendees with an update on current issues in Raleigh, as well as what they feel are the priorities for Scotland County moving forward. Rep. Pierce is “looking forward to sharing highlights of the 2018 short session with citizen of Scotland County, especially the legislation that was very positive and beneficial for Scotland County.”

Sen. McInnis is excited about the event and the opportunity the legislative breakfasts offers as “a great privilege to work with volunteers and elected officials in Scotland County. Working together we have been able to accomplish some great things in economic development and education. I look forward to the continued relationship.”

There will also be a question and answer period provided so that attendees can ask questions of individual representatives concerning the issues they feel are important.

Anyone with questions can contact the Chamber offices at 910-276-7420.
