LAURINBURG — Scotland County have a few more days to register to vote on May 8.

The deadline to be able to cast a ballot on primary day is Friday at 5 p.m. You can visit the county Board of Elections office or have your registration paperwork postmarked by that time.

There will still be same-day voter registration at the one-stop early voting from April 19 through May 5 at the Board of Elections conference room located at the County Annex Building 231 East Cronly St.

The one-stop early voting times are as followed:

— April 19 and 20; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

— April 23-27; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

— April 30- May 4; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

— May 5; 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Election day is May 8 from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. There is no photo identification requirement.

The primary voting is available for those who are registered as Democratic, Republican and unaffiliated. Those who are registered as unaffiliated will have their pick between the Democratic and Republican ballots. Residents who are registered as Libertarian will not be able to vote in the primary election.

Currently in Scotland County there are 22,434 registered voters. There are 12,775 registered Democrats; 3,714 registered Republican; 50 registered Libertarians; and 5,895 registered as unaffiliated.
