LAURINBURG — Two Scotland High School band students got the chance to try out for the NC All-State Band.

Being a part of the All-State Band is one of the highest honors for a band student.

Ffreshman Zane Troublefield and junior Terrance McLean were the only two chosen to audition from Scotland County.

McLean plays trombone and Troublefield is a percussionist.

The auditions were held at Central Davidson High School in Lexington where the best band members of the state all converged to try and be chosen as one of the 90 plus to be in the All-state band.

Neither McLean of Troublefield were selected for the All-state band.

The Board of Education recognized the band members at the March meeting.

“Just to get to there (the auditions) is a huge accomplishment,” said Meredith Bounds, public information officer for the schools. “We want to recognize that.”

Bounds also said that in the past five years only a handful of students have made it into the band.
