LAURINBURG — The annual Scotland High School Homecoming Parade will take place this afternoon ahead tonight’s football game against the Hoke County Bucks.

The parade begins at 4 p.m. at Scotland High School. The procession will move down West Church Street to Main Street, then back to the high school. It should last about an hour, school officials said.

The football game against the Bucks will begin at 7:30 p.m. During halftime the homecoming queen and courts will be announced.

During the parade, the band will march, cheerleaders will dance, football players will ride in trucks and 14 floats will line the streets in effort to pump up Fighting Scots fans for the big game.

“I believe we may have some middle and elementary schools participating in the parade as well,” said Jacob Glenn, science teacher and key club advisor.

Taking part will be three elementary schools — Laurel Hill, I Ellis Johnson, Covington Street Elementary along with Carver Middle School.
