LAURINBURG — Thousands are expected to come out to the four-day Mud Bash that began this afternoon.

The fourth annual Mud Bash at Outback ATV Park could attract as many as 10,000 people to Scotland County.

Owner Connie Gipson said visitors hail from Texas all the way to Canada to take part in the ATV event and music festival that ends Sunday.

“The event grows every year,” Gipson said. “Last year we had around 5,000 people and it grows every year so we’re expecting anywhere from 5,000 to 10,000.”

The event features live music performances by Moccasin Creek, Cypress Spring, Nu Breed, Big Chuk, Amber Delacruz, Ray Gotti, Da Pigpen, Big Murph, and Walk Lamb playing on Friday and Saturday nights.

“It’s a great line up, we book who our riders want to see,” Gipson said. “Its a mix of hip-hop and country, and we’ve got some great performers this year.”

The mud bash features a mud course, monster truck pit, and a brand new 50/50 hole. The 50/50 hole is a big mud bit that the riders have a 50 percent shot of making it through.

The event features seven different races with the chance to win up to $150.

The races are available for all-terrain vehicles, such as four-wheelers, known as quads as well as side by side all-terrain vehicles that are two seater all-terrain vehicles and trucks.

The races include 500cc and under quad class, 501cc-750cc quad class, 751cc and up quad class, side by side open class, and well as bounty hole races for trucks, quads, and side by sides.

“You don’t need an ATV to come out, that’s what a lot of people think is that they need an ATV,” Gipson said. “Most of the events are at the front, the races, vendors and concerts. You can come out in your car and enjoy a fun weekend.”
