LAURINBURG — The Scotland High School coed wrestling team’s 2023-24 schedule was released by head coach Thomas Havener to The Laurinburg Exchange recently, which includes 17 meets with three Sandhills Athletic Conference meets.

The Scots’ first meet will be the Lumberton Quad at Lumberton Senior High School on Nov. 16. They’ll then wrestle in the Viking Invitational at Union Pines High in Cameron on Nov. 18 and return to Lumberton Senior High for a Thanksgiving tournament on Nov. 22.

A nonconference meet at Marlboro County High in Bennettsville, SC, on Nov. 30 and the Mason Wagner Duals at Pinecrest High in Southern Pines, along with the women’s duals at Westover High in Fayetteville on Dec. 2, await Scotland before they head into SAC action on Dec. 7 with Southern Lee and Union Pines at Southern Lee High in Sanford. Scotland’s men will compete in the Bobby Abernathy Invite at Piedmont High in Monroe, and the women will wrestle in a tournament at Pinecrest High on Dec. 9. Four days later, they’ll meet at Montgomery Central High in Troy to wrestle Montgomery Central and Ledford.

On Dec. 16, Scotland will compete in the Western Harnett Duals at Western Harnett High in Lillington, then make another trip to Piedmont High to wrestle Piedmont and West Forsyth on Dec. 20. Scotland will close the 2023 calendar year with the Elizabeth Barry Tournament at Mallard Creek High in Charlotte on Dec. 21-22 and the Holy Angels Tournament on Dec. 29-30; the location and times for Holy Angels have not yet been announced.

The Scots kick off the new year with the Ram Rumble on Jan. 6, 2024, at Purnell Swett High in Pembroke. They’ll then return to SAC action with their first home meet against Lee County and Pinecrest on Jan. 10, 2024, before competing in the Boneyard Bash at Jack Britt High in Fayetteville on Jan. 13-14, 2024. The final SAC meet will be on Jan. 17, 2024, at Hoke County High in Raeford against Hoke County and Richmond, and the last regular-season meet will be at home the next day against Montgomery Central and Marlboro County (SC).

The SAC wrestling tournament will transpire on Jan. 20, 2024, at Pinecrest High. Women’s regionals will be on Feb. 2-3, 2024, at Jack Britt, while the men’s regionals will be on Feb. 9-10, 2024, at Union Pines.

The North Carolina High School Athletic Association’s Wrestling Championships will be held Feb. 15-17, 2024, at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex.
