LAURINBURG — Scotland High’s baseball and softball teams both had strong performances against Seventy-First on Friday night. The Lady Scots won 22-0, and the baseball team picked up a 17-7 victory.

The Lady Scots (9-3, 4-3) are now on a seven-game winning streak. They scored 10 or more runs for the third time this season.

Scotland’s baseball team used a grand slam by first baseman Austin Norton to take a 9-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning. An RBI double by Conner Seales and an RBI triple by Matt Sellers pushed the lead to 11-0 and wrapped up an eight-run second inning for the Scots.

Seventy-First scored seven runs in the fourth inning after Scotland substituted most of its starters out of the game.

Sellers started on the mound for the Scots. He tallied seven strikeouts in three innings of work. Two of those strikeouts came after he dealt three walks to load the bases with one out in the top of the third inning.

Scotland’s baseball and softball teams will play at Pinecrest on Tuesday.
