LAURINBURG — Scotland County Parks and Recreation is hosting the North Carolina Recreation and Park Association 12U boys basketball sectionals this weekend at Sycamore Lane Elementary School.
Nine schools, including Scotland County’s squad, will compete in the double-elimination tournament, which begins Friday and ends on Sunday. The other teams are Dunn, Pembroke, Bladen, Hamlet, Lee County, Fuquay-Varina and two teams from Spring Lake.
Scotland’s team plays against Dunn at 6:30 on Friday. The winner of that game will play the winner of Pembroke’s game against the Spring Lake Stars at 3:45 p.m. on Saturday. The team that loses Scotland’s first-round game will begin consolation bracket action at 1:45 on Saturday.
The tournament’s championship game is scheduled for Sunday at 4 p.m.
Admission is free for children ages 12 and under. The admission fee is $5 for all other fans.
