BRUNSWICK, Ga. – The St. Andrews University men’s golf team competed in the ninth-annual Winter Invitational hosted by the College of Coastal Georgia. The tournament was hosted at the par-72 Brunswick Country Club.
On Monday, St. Andrews was led by sophomore Yusuke Niwa, who finished the first round in a tie for fourth place in a field of 77 golfers. Niwa hit a 1-under-par 71.
Junior Andreas Pirc shot a 72 on the day. Pirc was tied with four other golfers in ninth place. Senior Alberto Firpi finished the opening round with a 79, and senior Kaleb Measimer carded a 90.
Niwa continued to lead the Knights in the second round of the invitational, carding an 81 to secure a 20th-place finish. Firpi also shot an 81 in round two and finished with a total score of 160. Pirc finished in 44th place after carding an 84 in the second round.
St. Andrews finished 13th of out 14 teams. They will compete at the Georgetown Invite that begins on Feb. 17 in St. Augustine, Florida.
