LAURINBURG — Scotland High School athletics will be holding tryouts and practices starting Monday.
The schedule is as follows:
The Fighting Scots football team with hold its first official practice Monday from 6 to 8:30 p.m. and will continue each night through Friday, Aug. 3.
Interim head coach Mallarie Snow will hold volleyball tryouts runing Monday through Friday, Aug. 3, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The Lady Scots’ first game is a non-conference match against Gray’s Creek on Aug. 15. The team will travel to Hope Mills to take on the Lady Bears at 5 p.m.
Scotland’s boys and girls cross-country teams will hold tryouts beginning July 30-Aug. 3 from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Head coach Greg Wrape and his teams normally begin their season in the beginning of September in Hope Mills competing in the Jungle Run, a night-time race put on by South View High School.
Lady Scots head coach Atondra Ellis will hold girl’s tennis tryouts on Monday through Thursday, Aug. 2. Tryouts will be held at two times, 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. each day.
The Fighting Scots soccer team has a new head coach, Blake Dickerson, and he will be holding tryouts beginning Monday from 8 to 10:30 a.m. Tryouts will run through next Friday.
The Lady Scots golf team has a new head coach in Leigh Carter. She will be holding practices/tryouts July 30-Aug. 2 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Carter will have evening practices July 30, Aug. 1 and Aug. 2 from 6 to 8 p.m.
