LAURINBURG — The St. Andrews wrestling program will host its second camp of the summer starting Monday. The Knights Wrestling Fitness Day Camp is for younger children and will run from July 16-19 from 9 a.m. to noon each day.
The fitness camp is for girls and boys in kindergarten through the sixth grade and is designed for beginner wrestlers and those with slightly more experience.
Campers will work on wrestling fundamentals and maneuvers by Baranik and members of the Knights wrestling team. Games and activities such as tumbling, tug-of-war, team handball, “vision quest,” odd-man-out scramble, whiffle ball and kickball will be used to get campers moving and work on the skills they’ve learned.
“The camp will teach kids how to become fit, learn a skill, build self confidence and make them better prepared for self-defense,” according to the camp brochure.
Each camper will be paired by weight, age and ability level. The cost of this camp is $80.
