LAURINBURG — The St. Andrews softball team will host two clinics next week.

The Lady Knights will host a skills clinic on June 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The following day, June 28, the team will host a hitting clinic from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The clinic is for girls ages eight to 18-years-old.

St. Andrews head coach Elizabeth Burris didn’t want to give any specifics away in terms of what the campers will be working on.

“Every year is different and kids enjoy being surprised each year by the new drills and how camp is run,” she said.

Burris and her team use the clinics to show young girls that if they work hard at their craft, they can dawn a Lady Knights jersey too.

“Camps empower young women, it helps them see they can grow up to be a college student-athlete, that’s what we look to show,” Burris said.

The clinics also allow her players to give back in some small way to the community.

“Being able to play a sport is one of the most fun this you can ever do, but also a privilege, and this how our players show their appreciation,” she said.

The cost is $100 for both days or $80 for the skills clinic and $40 for the hitting clinic.
