LAURINBURG — The Lady Scots soccer team picked up its second win of the season on Monday in Fayetteville.
The Lady Scots took on Seventy-First for the second time and once again the match up resulted in a 3-0 win for Scotland.
When the two teams met last month the Lady Scots picked up a 3-0 victory in Laurinburg and on Monday handed the Lady Falcons their 11th conference loss of the season.
All three of the Lady Scots goals on Monday were scored by freshman Carleigh Carter with assists from Nikki Strickland and Emma Herr.
“The Lady Scots did a really good job of working together and passing the ball with some beautiful crosses,” said Lady Scots head coach Jason Eury. “The girls played well as a team, defense held strong. Ashley (McGugan) stopped a penalty shot and as a team we continued to improve.”
Monday’s game was the first of three this week for the Lady Scots as they are on the road tonight and back home on April 20.
The Lady Scots move to 2-9-2 overall and 2-7-1 in conference play while Seventy-First falls to 0-13 and 0-11 in SAC-8 play. Scotland sits in seventh place in the league standings ahead of the win-less Lady Falcons. Pinecrest leads the conference at 11-0 followed by Jack Britt in second place at 9-2.
