LAURINBURG — The St. Andrews football team is back in action this Saturday following their bye week.

The Knights will play host to Faulkner University (1-2) on Sept. 23 at the new Knights Field, located across the street from the track and directly behind the baseball field on the corner of Dogwood and Magnolia Road.

Faulkner University is in the Sun Division of the Mid-South Conference along with Southeastern University, Ave Maria University, Webber International, Warner University, and Edward Waters College.

The Eagles are tied for third place in the Sun Division at 1-2 with Webber International. Southeastern leads their division with a 3-0 record followed by Ave Maria at 1-1.

St. Andrews is in a four-way tie for fourth place in the Appalachian Division with Bluefield College, Pikeville University and Point University at 1-2. Reinhardt University leads the Appalachian Division with a 2-0 record followed by Cumberlands University at 2-1 and Union College in third at 2-2.

Tailgating for Saturday’s game will begin at 11 a.m. in the parking lot behind the Physical Education Building. Vendors for this week’s game include Domino’s Pizza, Rockin Pig BBQ, Kona Ice, Daniel’s Hot Dogs, and Pioneer Catering. Tailgating will wrap up 15 minutes before kick off at 1:15 p.m.

Outside food and drink is permitted in the tailgating area, but will not be allowed inside the stadium. Those who are not interested in tailgating will find parking along Dogwood Mile that will open at 12 p.m. when the stadium opens.

The game is free and seating in the bleachers is on a first-come-first-serve basis. Fans are encouraged to bring their own chairs and lawn chairs to sit around the field. St. Andrews students will be selling raffle tickets and accepting donations in lieu of ticket sales. Programs and media guides will be available near the bleachers.

St. Andrews athletics encourages the community to come out and support the Knights and try to beat the attendance record from their home opener of 1,500 people.
