SILVIS, Ill. — St. Andrews University junior men’s golfer Joe Hurn fell short in his bid to make the cut at the NAIA National Tournament at the TPC at Deere Run in Silvis, IL last week.

Hurn shot a quality 8-over-par 79 in round one to place in the top 80 golfers. The junior fell back in the second round shooting a 92, which took two days to complete due to the inclement weather in Illinois.

Because of the suspended second round, the tournament was shortened to two rounds instead of the original three meaning Hurn did not qualify for the final two rounds. Hurn finished with a 29-over-par 171 over two rounds, which put him in fifth place out of the six AAC golfers that were competing in the tournament.

Women’s Golf

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. — St. Andrews sophomore women’s golfer Lydia Randell completed her first NAIA national appearance on Wednesday by shooting rounds of 83 and 85 to place in the top 82 after two rounds.

Due to rain, the fourth round was canceled and the tournament was shortened to two rounds. This caused Randell not to make the cut for the third and final round on Friday.

Randell finished 24-over-par shooting a 168 to place fifth among the 11 AAC golfers competing in the NAIA nationals. The tournament is being played at the PGA National- Squire Course in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.

Both golfers will return to St. Andrews next season looking to return to the national tournament as they will be the leaders for their respective teams. They will also look to repeat as individual conference champions and lead their teams to nationals.
