My, my, my — as if we did not have enough to be worried about, I have read and heard more stories about how the guns and ammo fever is spreading across the country almost as quickly as the toilet paper fever.

First heard story from out west of surging sales in gun shops, then story of a Charlotte gun shop changing to appointment only because they were being overwhelmed with customers who possibly carry the coronavirus. Then the Wake County sheriff suspending issuance of hand gun permits temporarily because his deputies were being overwhelmed, and also concerned for their health (and that of their families).

In a recent Laurinburg Exchange issu, there was a photo of a local pawn store employee holding up a long gun, who was saying they were already out of some calibers of ammo.

To top it all off, just heard on radio news that President Trump has added gun shops to the list of businesses that need to stay open. To be fair, I will seek confirmation of this story on the evening news.

Lord willing, we will not get to the end point of desperate armed citizens on America’s streets, militias on patrol, and civil war. I will state again for the record that I am a gun owner and a supporter of the 2nd Amendment, but to me this is cause for concern.

The apocalyptic outcome will hopefully not happen. But there are more and more adults and children being homebound. I fear that with more guns in homes, vehicles, and being carried, the usual increase in domestic violence, and (sadly) probable increase in suicides; they all will be will be more tragic and fatal. Not all new or old gun owners can afford gun safes. Hopefully there will not also be more riders in cars with cabin fever relieving boredom with drive-by shootings. There WILL be more thefts of guns.

In conclusion, unfortunately, this fever is definitely contagious and spreads rapidly. Please help us all, dear God.
