This is written on behalf of all the members of Bridge-at-the-Village to thank The Laurinburg Exchange for the extensive coverage you have given us for our Longest Day event in support of the Alzheimer’s Association. You were diligent to publish accounts of its impending occurrence in the weeks preceding the event, and we could not ask for better coverage of the event itself as presented in Saturday’s issue.
As a result, in addition to our B-a-t-V members, nine local bridge-playing clubs or groups came to play, while other non-players stopped by to contribute.
We feel very grateful for what you did, as together with the broadcasts of WLNC’s Gary Gallman our efforts received wide publicity and evoked this wonderful support from many in the community. Your article noted the $1,000 check from Carolina Hearts Home Care, which was both exciting and unexpected. In addition to that, however, we raised more than ever before, ending with a total of $2,175 to send to the Alzheimer’s Association. This is a large amount for a small club like ours, and it is all due to the response of the community to the publicity given our efforts.
Thank you again for all you do to boost the many worthwhile activities going on in Laurinburg. Your support helps all of us succeed.
