As many readers know, after a year of planning, this weekend Scotland Health Care System is launching our comprehensive IT platform within the hospital and at all of network practices. Epic, the premier electronic health record system in the country, will give us an integrated platform for our patient’s medical histories, allowing all our caregivers to work on a single system.
This will also let them easily coordinate care with providers and facilities elsewhere. Our patient portal, MyScotlandHealth, will also provide you with access to your records as well as allow you to schedule appointments, pay bills, and get other helpful medical information. Your privacy and security will be enhanced through palm scanning for registration and other improvements.
I commend our Board of Trustees for their forward thinking to make such a significant investment to enhance the care we provide. I also want to recognize our managing partner, Atrium Health, as without their support, our Board would not have been able to make this commitment to our community.
I write to ask the community’s patience over the next few weeks. Our staff and our providers have put in enormous training time and are very excited about this change. We will also have dozens of extra support staff here for the next two weeks as we master the system.
If you visit us during this period you may experience some delays, new faces and more activity but rest assured, the high level of quality care, service, and focus on your needs that you desire, deserve, and expect will continue. Please feel free to ask staff what is new, why it is good, and how you, too, can use it.
Thank you for your support and understanding.
