LAURINBURG — Expectant moms and dads and those who plan to be expecting soon are invited free event on May 18. The Pregnancy Health Fair, sponsored by Scotland Health Care System and funded by Scotland Memorial Foundation, will be held in the Community Health and Rehabilitation Center, on the hospital campus.
“The Pregnancy Fair provides expectant parents with information that will positively affect the health of both mother and child,” said Michelle Herberg, director of Scotland Health Care System Women’s Services. “Participants will have the opportunity to learn information to enhance their chances of having a healthy baby.”
Approximately 15 exhibitors will be present at the event.
“We’ve invited OB/Gyn offices and the Purcell Clinic, as well as community agencies,” Herberg said. “Day care centers, pharmacies, and other businesses will provide information about their services.”
She said the Scotland County Health Department will also provide information on their services, such as Health Check, folic acid, parenting classes and car safety seat education, and maternity care.
Exhibitors will provide handouts, giveaways and samples.
Participants may visit the exhibits from 5:30 to 6 p.m. The program begins at 6 p.m. in the WR Dulin Conference Center. “We have a great panel of speakers who will cover some great topics,” Herberg said. “We have providers from Women’s Health Center of the Carolinas, the Purcell Clinic, the Anesthesia Department from Scotland Memorial Hospital, and a Lactation Consultant. Participants will also be able to see material regarding the renovations of the Women’s Center at Scotland Memorial.”
Registration is required for the Pregnancy Health Fair and can be made by calling 910-291-7808. Due to space limitations, expecting moms may bring only one guest with her to the event.
